The footpath passing through Fullbrook Farm links Lichfield
City Centre to the rural villages of Kings Bromley and
Handsacre. This path, part of the Erasmus Darwin Walk (see
below), links to a number of others including routes to
Curborough Craft Centre and along the canal to Fradley
Junction.

For a pleasant afternoon's walk with plenty of variety and
lots to see along the way we recommend a circular route along
the footpath towards Kings Bromley to visit Bromley Hayes
Garden Centre, then use the canal tow path to reach Fradley
Junction, and then return via footpath to Wood End Lane and
Watery Lane back to the farm again. Ask us when you visit
and we'll gladly point out this route on your OS map. For

Just 5 minutes walk along the footpath from Fullbrook Farm,
Curborough Craft Centre one of the few remaining traditional
craft centres in the West Midlands & Staffordshire. The centre
has grown over the past years into a well known and thriving
Craft & Antiques Centre. There is over 22 Craft units and still
growing, some of whom fully demonstrate their crafts such as
Living Light Glass Studio, where you can learn the art of
Stained Glass, the Woollen Mill & Creative Streak have many
different craft courses available to all. Also new are
Children's "Be my Bear" parties held at "GeeUp" in "The Mill".
There is also Betty's Tea Room on site too.

The Erasmus Darwin Walk

Passing through Fullbrook Farm, the Erasmus Darwin Walk
follows a well-established route around the boundary of the City
of Lichfield and has several refreshment stops along the way.
The walk is mostly rural, takes approximately 4 hours to
complete, and provides some particularly beautiful views of
Lichfield's rural countryside and cathedral spires. The route is
cleared marked out by the signs shown on the right. Simply walk
up the track through the farm to join the path.

Run by neighbouring Wood Farm, this is Lichfield's largest
car boot sale and operates every Sunday morning during the
summer. The easiest way to get there is to walk for about 5
minutes along the footpath from Fullbrook towards Kings
Bromley, and the car boot is next to the second field you reach.

National Cycle Network Route 54

Route 54 joins Derby, Burton on Trent, Lichfield and Cannock. It is
part of the National Cycle Network, organised by Sustrans, and the section
around Lichfield is flat and very easy going. Heading north you quickly
reach Alrewas and then Barton Under Needwood - two lovely Staffordshire villages, each
having several public houses that serve superb meals.
South is Lichfield City Centre (enter via Stowe Pool and the leave via Beacon Park)
and a little further on is Chasewater Park near Cannock (Details elsewhere on
our attractions list).

Samuel Johnson, one of the most famous figures of the 18th
century, was born in the city on the 18th September 1709. His
house in Breadmarket Street facing the market square, is now a
museum to his life, work and personality. It was built by his
bookselling father, Michael, as a family home and bookshop a few
months before Samuel's birth. It is a large solid house, as free
from pretensions, it has been said, as Samuel himself!
